A video codec is a method of encoding and decoding video so it can be read from and stored on a computer. Many different codecs exist with varying levels of quality and space usage. Windows Media Player is the default player in most Windows pc but it doesn’t have the right codec to play the types of files that the camera creates.
We suggest that you try to use VLC Media Player to play the video files back. You can easily download it for free online in only a few minutes. Sometimes Windows Media Player and Quicktime cannot read the file type that this camera records in.

Hidden surveillance cameras aren’t allowed to have audio recordings due to wiretapping laws in the US. You can use an audio recording device separately but it cannot contain video at the same time. To learn more, click here.
This camera has no memory of its own so it requires a micro SD card in order for anything to be recorded or to even show up.
